Thread: Is this site any good?

Default Is this site any good?

I have been looking for a few good quotes sites, but it seems like half of the ones I have been to don't even give you a quote and just spam your email. I was wondering if this particular quote site was any good...

If you don't want spam and get a thousand phone calls from people you did not ask to call you - go to a brick and mortar agent. See a human being. If you buy from the web - the "agent" on the other end may not know all the things you should be covered for.

I got a quote from an "online provider" and he said he would save me $600 a year. When I got the policy and compared it - it was WAY less coverage inside the policy than I had. I got an HO2 instead of an HO3 and the endorsements provided more limitations. If I was buying a car - it would be like he quoted me with a CD player, electric locks and windows, a moon roof and 46 miles to the gallon. What was delivered was crank windows, bald tires and AM/FM radio. PLUS he wanted to charge me a $385 fee for the pleasure of doing business with them. So I declined the policy and stayed with my "brick and mortar" agent who takes good care of me ...AND my house and cars.

Oh yeah - and my online experience filled up my email box and for about two weeks or so I kept getting phone calls from people I never met or gave my phone number to. Not exciting.

Insurance professionals are worth their weight in gold. Use online services to give you a general idea of what you can be paying, but buy it from a professional.

I'm with bdwilliams as well, and I'm not a broker. The reason why you don't want to rely on online technology (besides that you could be putting people out of work and contributing to the unemployment rate) is that online quoting systems do not encorporate understanding, empathy, and other human qualities. As an Underwriter I came across many situations where I used my common sense on matters that a online quoting system would not.

That said, there are many insurance professionals that work like an online system. They are obsessed with following rules and being narrow minded. This is why they will be replaced by computers eventually. Just know this; When you're dealing with insurance, one person may be better than the last. Don't give up just because of one bad experience. We're all only human, but altogether that's still better than a computer that will completely pigeon-hole you.
