keep the search engines coming back for more. Help them know your relevant with good content- QUALITY backlinks- in other words avoid link farms like the plague also use your h1 and h2 tags properly actually not that hard and if you have the time to do it right, you do not need to pay for it.

Hey, lots of great advice here.

I am actually an seo specialist and have been doing it for a long time.

and back links.....as well as building keywords into your url........
You would be suprised, keywords into your url is really not that important for seo.

I have found that the best thing to "improve your website ranking" in terms of ranking higher in search engines is the amount of backlinks with specific keywords that you get to your website. Quality content is important, but I have found many websites that rank high, without the greatest content. However, one of the reasons why quality content is so good, is because it is easy to link to and people will naturaly put links to great information. Anyone ever heard of the term link baiting?

I am actually thinking about offering my seo services to small businesses/personal websites and helping people rank higher in google, would anyone be interested in such a service? I might even be able to offer a discount to active forum members... let me know.

You can also try these link building strategies:Social Media Optimization(Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+, Twitter, Digg, Stumbleupon and many more), Social Bookmarking, Directory Submission, Classified Ads,Forum submission, Blog commenting, Guest Posting, Blogging, Squeeze pages like squidoo, hubpages, edublogs and many more. Other than Off-page strategies, you will also need to focus on the other side of Search Engine Optimization or what we called On-page optimization. Here are the things you need to have for your website or blog: Targeted keywords in the Title Tags, URL or permalinks, Header tags, site navigation & footer, keyword density, proximity & prominence, and many more. You can pm me if you have some questions.

@jamesbala. I think you should add more details in exchanging back links like sending linking request(or should I say reciprocal linking...same as exchanging links) to websites that are relevant to your niche or industry, not just getting reciprocal links from unrelated sites.

Write some keyword rich articles 400-500 word minimum and submit them to article directories such as ezinearticles.com.

You're right. Article submission is a great way to get traffic and good backlinks by submitting articles to ezines. Ezinearticles is one of the best article submission sites and it has a huge traffic from all over the world.
