    What is a provision called in a disability income insurance policy that requires a person to wait before receiving benefits?

    This is called the elimination period. For simplicity purposes, some agents/brokers educate their clients that is similar to a deductible. The period of time during which benefits are not payable but the client must come up with the money from savings to continue to live and pay their bills.
