Default What types of insurance does an event planner need?

I am interested in starting my own business from home as an event planner (no employees, just me). However, I am unsure about the insurance aspect of things.

I will possibly be organising events for a large company and they have told me that I am required to take out Public & Products Liability insurance and Personal Accident cover before I can start working on any of their events. Will the Personal Accident insurance cover my hospital bills if I injure myself? If not, what insurance does?

Could you please advise what type of insurance is required for a home-based event planner.

If there are any event planners out there could you please let me know what insurance you have??

You will have to pull it out per event. This is an example of a 3 day conference. This is with 200 attendees and an average of 75 people drinking per day. Keep in mind that this is classified as an exhibit- conference, in Colorado, in Denver, Zip Code 80222. It does include liquor liability.

Total General Liability Premium: $830
Total Liquor Liability Premium: $811
Total Premium (excluding taxes and fees which is $200 fee and 3% tax):

$1,641 + (3% tax)$49.23 + $200 fee=$1,890.23 for best liability @ 1mill/2mill

Locations
Event Event Address
1 Unknown, Denver, CO 80222
Code Classification
00417 GL: Conventions / Tradeshows / Exhibits - Conference (applicant is the organizer of the event)
Limits Premium
$100,000/$200,000 $465
$300,000/$600,000 $615
$500,000/$1,000,000 $715
$1,000,000/$2,000,000 $830
Code Classification
00407 Liquor: Conventions / Tradeshows / Exhibits - Conference (applicant is the organizer of the event)
Limits Premium
$100,000/$200,000 $455
$300,000/$600,000 $600
$500,000/$1,000,000 $699
$1,000,000/$2,000,000 $811

I wouldn't worry to much about the liquor liability, if its a big hotel, they have insurance. If its an independent company(catering) make sure they provide a certificate of insurance extending coverage to you, make sure it shows liquor liability.

Cheers,

Mark

You will most likely benefit from annual travel insurance or some business packages. Just ask your insurance provider for the various plans offered.

Anual travel insurance packages are your best bet, although I would suggest that you look for some sort of cover for the events that you plan, this is not my specialty, but I did work as an event planner for a while untill one event went south and I ended up getting sued by some performers, so try to get some sort of legal cost insurance if posible.

Event Planning is a kind of home-based business, in this business the entrepreneur is a single man to see all things and indulge in diversified affairs for sure. This is the best way for insure your business that, you have to take services of an insurance agent.

He will know what kind of insurance you need and how much it will cost. The insurance is to cover the people and items at the events you coordinate, not you personally as well.
